Lisa Jamieson Named Winner of the 2024 IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Behavioral, Epidemiologic, and Health Services Research

Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) has announced Lisa Jamieson as the 2024 IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Behavioral, Epidemiologic, and Health Services Research. Jamieson, from the University of Adelaide, Australia, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 102nd General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the 53rd Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research and the 48th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, on March 13-16, 2024, in New Orleans, LA, USA. 

Jamieson is Director of the Indigenous Oral Health Unit (IOHU) and Professor at the University of Adelaide in Australia. Since 2021 she has also been Director of the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health (ARCPOH), which involves management of four distinct research hubs, of which IOHU is one. She attended the University of Otago in New Zealand, where she received her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees.

Jamieson is recognized as a leading researcher in Indigenous oral health. In this role she has been contributor of information to national Indigenous oral health and dental services policy in Australia. She has published widely and been an invited presenter at numerous international research meetings involving Indigenous oral health. She is on the Editorial Board of BMC Public Health and has served on several recent working parties of the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council. 

The IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Behavioral, Epidemiological, and Health Services Research is supported by CareQuest Institute for Oral Health and is one of the 17 IADR Distinguished Scientist Awards and it is one of the highest honors bestowed by IADR. The award consists of a monetary award and a plaque, and is designed to stimulate, encourage, and recognize behavioral science and health services research as they relate to dentistry.
