IADR Academy: Reconstruction and Regeneration of Oral and Maxillofacial Hard Tissues
June 21, 2022, 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. China Standard Time (UTC +8)
Organizer(s): Jie-Fei Shen (West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University), Yongwen Guo (West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University)Ticketed Event, Capacity Limited
This academy will provide an in-depth view of contemporary cutting-edge issues in the reconstruction and regeneration of oral and maxillofacial hard tissues. There will be coverage of recent advances in approaches and the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms for reconstruction and regeneration of enamel or crown, dentin, pulp-dentin complex, alveolar bone as well as the periodontal complex. What’s more, the future prospective and the strategies for making discoveries and securing funding in this field will also be covered. In addition, there will be opportunity for thought sparks in contemporary topical areas through participation in the seminar that focus on the scientific research design, experiment planning as well as the data analysis and graphing. Participants will complete the academy with new insights and skills in future research and development of novel strategies for reconstruction and regeneration of oral and maxillofacial hard tissues.Ticket cost:
- Member: $125
- Student Member/Retired Member: $100

A cohesive session organized around a cutting-edge topic with about three to four speakers; typically, 90 minutes in length unless approved otherwise. Approval of Group/Network sponsorship is required from at least one IADR Scientific Group/Network. Symposium submissions exhibiting a cross-collaboration between more than one Scientific Group/Network will be prioritized higher if accepted into the scientific program. IADR encourages not only collaboration within Groups/Networks, but with the greater scientific community.

IADR Plenary: Harnessing Oral Health Research to Advance Global Health
June 24, 2022, 9:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m. China Standard Time (UTC +8)Knowledge of the global impact of oral health has changed significantly over the past two decades. Oral diseases and conditions are highly prevalent worldwide, with dental caries as the most prevalent global health condition. Among 3.5 billion people worldwide, four oral health conditions are among the top 30 most prevalent health related conditions: untreated dental caries in adult teeth (#1), severe periodontitis (#11), untreated dental caries in primary teeth (#17), and severe or complete tooth loss (#29) (GBD 2016 Disease and Injury Incidence and Prevalence Collaborators 2017). There is a clear need for research that will promote best practices for understanding, prevention, and access to care. This symposium brings together global health leaders to explore the current landscape of global oral health research, discuss research workforce needs, and address capacity building.
Learning Objective 1: To understand the current landscape of global oral health research in relationship to the global burden of diseases/conditions and how to better re-align scientific opportunities to address the most urgent challenges.
Learning Objective 2: To explore the resources available which can stimulate further research and research training and identify the barriers and potential solutions on a global basis.
Learning Objective 3: To stimulate discussion about what might be included in updating a research agenda and needs for building capacity for global oral health research.Speakers:
9:45 a.m.-9:50 a.m.
